The Opposites
One of our favourite books is ‘Tao Of Physics’, which draws parallels between Modern Physics and Eastern Mysticism.
It says, “In the East, a virtuous person is not one who undertakes the impossible task of striving for the good and eliminating the bad, but rather one who is able to maintain dynamic balance between good and bad.”
The dynamic balance between good and bad caught our attention.
Why do we need to maintain a balance, and that too dynamic? Only if the life operates between opposites. And only if the dynamic nature allows us to learn from both the opposites.
And here are some of the opposites that we detected in our lives.
If you want to grow, narrow your focus!
If you want to be healthy, eat less!
If you want to see clearly, shut your eyes (and meditate)!
If you want to be knowledgable, stop reading (and observe)!
If you want to win, start losing (your ego)!
And finally our favourite - If you want to be confident, be confused 😊
So, now you know how you have to think if you want to do anything? Think opposite, you may find a way!
The dynamic unity of all polar opposites is one of the basic principles of the Eastern way of life.
The latest we discovered is a Chinese concept, called Wu Wei, which means ‘actionless action’. Do give it a read, we will also try to bring it in one of our newsletters!
If you have your list of opposites, do share with us in the comments.
